WASHINGTON, April 30, 2009 - The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors today approved the following project: Afghanistan: Financial Sector Strengthening Project IDA Grant: US$8 million equivalent Project Description:  The Afghanistan Financial Sector Strengthening Project will help finance the costs associated with: 1) strengthening the capacity of Designed Account (Da) Afghanistan Bank in the areas of banking supervision, accounting, internal audit and human resource management; and 2) developing necessary financial infrastructure, such as public credit registry, collateral registry, and the Afghanistan National Institute of Banking and Finance.
