Afghanistan: Civil Service Reform Project

WASHINGTON, May 29, 2007 - The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

 

IDA GRANT: US$20.4 million

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The main objective of the project is to support key government ministries to improve their performance in terms of service delivery and accountability for the use of public resources. To meet this objective, the project will provide support to core ministries as they reorganize their structure and staffing so as to better meet their tasks. The project will also support the government in managing the civil service according to clear rules and procedures.
