The Interim Strategy Note (ISN) will guide the Bank's engagement in Afghanistan for the next two years. By then the government plans to have developed its full Afghanistan National Development Strategy (ANDS), also known as Poverty Reduction Strategy Papger (PRSP) in Bank terminology, paving the way for preparation of a Country Assistance Strategy. Bank support under this Interim Strategy Note is anticipated to shift slightly from the previous Transitional Support Strategy, notably to provide greater emphasis on development of rural economy. The pillars of the new strategy are: - Build capacity of the state and its accountability to its citizens to ensure the provision of services that are affordable, accessible and of adequate quality
- Promote growth on the rural economy and improve rural livelihoods
- Support growth of a formal, modern and competitive private sector
